From corn to design.
Material takes shape.

Our vases are made from matte PLA. Through 3D printing, this material becomes shapes, textures and colours for your home. Discover the connection between PLA and plant sugars, such as those obtained from corn.

What does corn have to do with a vase?

Corn is one possible raw material for PLA, or polylactic acid. Its starch provides sugars which, through fermentation and further processing, become a polymer suitable for uses including 3D printing.

Bioplastic for design.

We use PLA, a bioplastic that can be made from plant sugars, such as those from corn.

Besides corn, raw materials can include sugar cane and other crops. The specific origin depends on the material’s supply chain: corn illustrates one production route for PLA, not the exclusive composition of every vase.

01 · The origin

Plant sugars

Raw materials such as corn starch supply the sugars used in the process.

02 · The transformation

The material

Fermentation produces lactic acid. Further processing produces PLA, which is then made into filament.

03 · The shape

3D printing

The filament is deposited layer by layer: a digital design becomes a real object.

The character of our vases

We choose matte PLA for its understated finish, highlighting shapes without glossy reflections. Our vases combine layered manufacturing, decorative geometry and colour. The print lines are part of the surface and reveal how each object was made.

Vasetto3D is a brand of Mangoo3D di Loris Corno. We make our vases through 3D printing, shaping a collection designed for the home.

A little care, every day

Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid very hot water, dishwashers and heat sources such as radiators or a car left in the sun: PLA is sensitive to high temperatures.

For arrangements containing water, use a suitable inner container: do not assume that a layer-printed object is watertight.

Plant-based: precise wording matters

“Plant-based” describes the raw material’s origin. It does not automatically mean home-compostable, plastic-free or suitable for organic waste. The filament’s properties and any certifications of the finished product must be considered separately.

Do not discard the vase in nature. Follow your local waste collection service’s disposal instructions.
